July 26th to August 8th
So this week, our professor asked us to give him our take on both topics, if we had to choose which theory would we pick?
We had the chance to review what mankind believes to be the origin of all languages as we know them. The two main theories come from two positions in which we believe that either humanity learn how to create languages thanks to the power of evolution. And the other side says that we have languages thanks to God, because the almighty gave us the gift to name the things of creation, in other words. God made it possible.
In class, we had to pick one, I didn't and I will not pick one. I believe that if the almighty created intelligent beings capable enough to evolve and create, modify and make complex things of their own, such as “languages”. On the other hand, when it comes to the theories of learning, I really like the “Universal Grammar theory” of Noam Chomsky. I do believe that the human mind is pre-equipped with a set of linguistics constraints. Meaning that humans are born with the ability to learn languages. Our brains have internal mechanisms that enable children to grasp and therefore understand complex grammatical structures even without academic or proper instruction. At first, we imitate, but then we understand, learn and replicate.
And that was all from me, before I leave I'm sharing with some of the pictures I took the week before vacations.
This University event was crazy, and Lic. Orlando will never hear the end of it from us 😂😉
