Week VI
TPR METHOD PART II
This week has been full of interesting things, as we were able to see at the end of last week, we were able to fully review the TPR method. As we mentioned before, this method is handy when it comes to teaching short commands and have the students get used to the language they're trying to learn. The method no only involve dynamics and dancing. It can also be taught through the body language.
After getting into the details, principles and examples of this method we did our SWOT analysis in groups:
After closing the method of TPR, we were able to learn about a new method called “suggestopedia”. Which is a method of teaching a foreign language, in which students learn quickly, by feeling relaxed, interested, and positive. It has its origins in the 1970s, Yoga and psychology.
After we finished reviewing the last two methods, we proceeded to enjoy the first presentation of our classmates, where not just review the topics, but we got great representations and examples of each method.
The first group presented the “grammar translation method”. As we can see in the picture, we got to actively participate in the translation activity.
The second group presented the direct method:
And last but not least, the silent method:
Learning and teaching are journeys of their own, but they're not opposites, just like the student can learn from the teacher, the teachers can learn from their students. It's up to us how much fun we can have with them…
